Our consultants are constantly on hand to answer any questions or help solve any problems when it comes to adapting to life with your new au pair, ensuring a seamless procedure.
An au pair is a young domestic assistant from another country who lives and provides in-home child care service to a host family for a defined period of time. An au pair can work as many hours as you need and adapt to your family’s lifestyle and may work up to 35 hours a week.
As a live-in member of staff, an au pair takes on a share of the family's responsibility for the child and home care, as well as some light housework.
It should be bared in mind that au pairs are generally young and with limited experience of the country they have come to. They are on a cultural exchange and should be provided time to attend language school by their host family.
It is required that you must provide your au pair with their own room and preferably a private bathroom. For London families, travel cards for tubes and buses are generally provided. Meals are also expected to be provided by the host family.
Au pairs are generally paid between £200 to £250 per week for up to 35 hours per week.
An au pair plus maintains the same duties as an au pair – living in the family’s home, taking a share of the family's responsibility for childcare as well as some light housework.

An au pair is generally treated as a member of the family as opposed to an employee and usually stays from 6 months up to 1 year. Au pairs are responsible, kind, and eager to learn, but they are often young and learning themselves, opposed to a highly experienced, live-in nanny.
An au pair will expose the children to another culture and a second language but is not expected to teach a language, an au pair is in a host family's home to learn English.
An au pair will not necessarily be seeking a professional career in child care or have previous experience, whereas Little Ones’ nannies have at least three years of childcare experience. Au pairs are generally more flexible and cheaper than a nanny, however, they should not be given the sole charge of a child under three months old.
Information about visa requirements is available from the UK visas and immigration departments.
Whether you need an au pair, a nanny or a housekeeper; Little Ones will provide you with a highly professional and personal service.
