Are you looking for an Ofsted registered nanny? Or are you a nanny, looking to become registered? Did you know that Little Ones can help provide 3 out of the 4 items required by Ofsted for registration?
For families seeking a nanny who is Ofsted registered, this will open up your candidate search. By finding the right nanny, and then putting them through the training, you can quickly register the nanny of your choice on the Ofsted Voluntary Register, without limiting your search to already registered candidates.
For nannies, some families ask for Ofsted registered nannies as a requirement in their search criteria. By completing the right courses, you will be ready to register, should the need arise.
Ofsted registration costs £103 per year.
So what is the criteria to become an Ofsted registered nanny?
Nannies (or home child carers) need to register on the Voluntary Register with Ofsted. To be able to do so, they will need;
A valid 12 hour Paediatric First Aid Certificate
Certification to Level 2 or 3 including training of the Common Core Skills
An enhanced DBS check
Nanny public liability insurance
1. Little Ones have been providing Paediatric First Aid courses for nannies, childminders and early years practitioners for over 5 years. Little Ones is a member of the First Aid Industry Body. A regulatory body ensuring a high quality of service and standard from its members.
Paediatric First Aid courses run 3 times a week on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday. Our course consists of 6 hours hands on practical training and 6 hours online. These 12 hours make up the core hours and information needed to be compliant with the Ofsted requirements.
2. Our Early Years Care and Education Course is a blend of the Common Core Skills, needed to register with Ofsted, as well as extra units to ensure all learners reach their best potential.
The Common Core Skills includes units on:
Effective Communication and Engagement with Children, Young People and their Families
Child and Young Person Development
Safeguarding and Promoting the Welfare of the Child
The Little Ones Early Years Care and Education Course also includes extra units on:
The Role of a Nanny
The Early Years Foundation Stage
This is a one day course, taken on a weekend. To achieve the certification, learners will complete a set of assessments after attending the course, which are accredited by the Open College Network (OCN) at a level 3. Learners will have on-going support by their tutor to help complete the assessments to the OCN standards, and will have 4 weeks to complete the coursework.
3. Little Ones can also help you get an enhanced DBS checks, which can be done in person at one of our central London offices. We complete these face to face to verify documents and to make sure all the correct information is provided on the application forms and we will then process everything for you online.
