Every house, old or new, will have their own share of repair issues. When the sink and drains are clogged, when the water pipes are dripping, when the light bulbs flicker, when the floors are creaking — you may think you can deal with these simple problems on your own, but these may be harder to fix than you think. Instead of spending your time on trying to figure out what to do with the broken pipes, or spend money on tools that you may only use once, you may call a handyman instead! Having a skilled worker who can take care of all the maintenance duties and repair tasks for your home would be a godsend.
There are a lot of reasons why you might consider hiring a handyman or a handyperson. When you have a busy schedule, it is hard to fix the home repairs that you need to do in your free time. That time is usually spent with family, playing with your children, and having a little bit of “me time” to relieve yourself off the stress from the whole week’s work. Having a handyman to do the home repairs for you would be a great help.
When you decide to hire a handyman, there might be a few questions that will pop up into your mind — What is their salary range? How much does it cost to hire a handyman? How would I go with the hiring process? Do I want the handyman to work full time or part time? These might be some of the questions that are lingering in your mind right now and it is important to be clear of what you are looking for from the first stage. These may all seem tricky and confusing, which is why most families decide to find their handyman through an agency.
Why use an agency to find a Handyman?
Some of you might wonder why you should hire a Handyman through an agency when you can conduct your own search. It is indeed true that you will get a wider selection of candidates if you do the handyman search on your own by posting some advertisements on job sites, but this also accompanies some disappointments. Browsing through all the applications is not an easy task, it will take too much of your time and, most often than not, the candidates who applied do not have the necessary qualifications that you need in a handyman. Some might say they can do the job but end up letting you down. This will only add to the worry and stress of the hiring process, which is why you can leave this task to the agencies. They can find the best handyman that complements your needs and qualifications!

How much is the cost for hiring a Handyman?
One of the first things to take into consideration when finding a handyman or handyperson is the cost for hiring them. You first need to decide if you are looking for someone who can work on a temporary basis or in a permanent capacity.
If you are looking for a temporary handyman, Little Ones will charge you £30 per day as commission, after this you will need to directly pay the handyman with their hourly salary, which is around £10 to £12 per hour.
Meanwhile, if you are looking for a handyman who will work on a permanent basis, the registration fee will be £69. After registration, our consultants will be sending you a list of qualified candidates who are best suited for the position you are offering. They will also arrange interviews and guide you all throughout the hiring process. Our experienced consultants will also help you in preparing and finalising paperwork including the contract offer to the candidate once you find someone you would like to hire. To calculate the commission fee that the client needs to pay the agency, the consultant will take 15% to 18% of the candidate’s annual net salary.
For example, if you decided to pay your handyman a net salary of £450 per week, you will need to multiply this by 52 (total number of weeks per year), and get 16% of this to obtain the cost of the agency fee.
£450 x 52 = £23,400 x 16% = £3,744 (+ VAT)
We have a team of skilled and professional handymen in our books and they will provide high-quality service to you and your family.

What are the salary ranges of a handyman?
There are a number of things that contribute to the salary range and overall job package for a handyman. The market rate for a handyman is dependent, as with any industry, on a number of variables. In the United Kingdom, the demand is higher for a skilled and experienced candidate and this outranks the demand for availability. And for this reason, an experienced and professional handyman may request a salary as high as £20 per hour.
A handyman performs a variety of maintenance and repair jobs and their salaries often depend on a number of variables, including skills, experience, location, working hours, degree of flexibility and the duties and responsibilities given to them.
Skills and Experience - a candidate with a higher level of experience or has the necessary professional skills may request a higher salary.
Location - London has a higher demand for skilled handyman, and rural areas as well as overseas locations like the Middle East, Russia and South America provide higher salaries for handymen.
Working hours and degree of flexibility - if the handyman position entails a part-time role only and requires a great deal of flexibility, the handyman may ask for a higher salary.
Duties and responsibilities - the duties that are given to them also affect the range of salary that they are expecting. Someone who will re-tile your kitchen floor may request a higher salary than someone who will change your flickering light bulb.
Below is a guideline of the market rates based on the expected salary range of handymen with between 1 to 20 years of experience. Please note that these salaries are highly dependent on the variables mentioned above as well as the employer’s specific requirements.
