A lovely family based in Hampshire is seeking a Full-time Live-in Cook with Housekeeping duties to support the smooth running of their private household.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience as a cook, either in a private domestic setting or restaurant environment. Someone confident, organised, hands-on, and passionate about fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced food would be ideal for this role.

The cook will be responsible for preparing fresh family meals using produce from the kitchen garden, local sources, and farm-fresh ingredients. The family’s preferred cooking style focuses on simple, high-quality family food, including fresh and local produce, grass-fed meat, fish, home eggs, fruit, raw honey, and raw dairy where possible. Food source is more important than presentation.

The role will include preparing all family lunches and dinners from Thursday to Sunday, preparing working lunches on Thursdays and Fridays when required, harvesting produce from the kitchen garden, processing seasonal fruit and vegetable gluts, and managing the general flow of food in the household.

The cook will also be responsible for keeping the kitchen, house bar, and dry store clean, organised, and fully stocked. Duties will include checking and purchasing groceries and household supplies, maintaining stock levels within budget, keeping records of related expenditure, meeting with the principals to discuss meal requirements, and liaising with the principal or gardener regarding kitchen garden produce.

The candidate must be comfortable handling all types of meat and fish and should be happy working with home game, kitchen garden produce, and locally sourced ingredients. The role may also include catering for small family events and larger outdoor gatherings, with opportunities to cook over outdoor fire and in a more rustic, seasonal style.

The property is part of a large 3,000-acre estate with farming, residential properties, commercial space, and a main manor house. The family home is a rustic 9-bedroom character property, and the candidate will work as part of a small domestic team.

Housekeeping duties will include supporting the general cleanliness and upkeep of the private residence, including floor care, dusting, polishing, bathroom cleaning, kitchen maintenance, laundry, ironing, bed making, linen changes, and dishware organisation.

No immediate childcare or pet care will be required. A driver with their own car is required for this role.

The candidate will be provided with a 1-bedroom flat above a stable block, including a living room, bedroom, and kitchenette.

Working hours: 8:00 to 20:00, with a 2-hour break during the day. Around 50 hours per week.
