Families who are looking for an Au Pair, are looking for someone to become part of their family, engage with their children and share with them their language and culture. Au pairs are expected to be flexible and adaptable, especially as working with children is not always predictable.
Au Pairs will be expected to get the children up, ready, and off to school, as well as preparing light meals for them and seeing that they go to bed on time. You may also be required to assist the family with light housekeeping (as with any co-living arrangement) and undertake the children’s laundry and ironing.

If you are interested in becoming an Au Pair through our services, you will first need to send us a copy of your CV which includes all of your working experience and, where possible, any relevant experience with children. This could include babysitting and if you have much younger siblings, cousins, nieces or nephews you have cared for.
Along with your CV we will need references which are verifiable and a Paediatric First Aid Certification dated within 3 years (if you do not have this Little Ones offer Paediatric First Aid courses 5 days per week including weekends for our placed au pairs FREE of charge). You will also need to obtain a DBS or police check. These requirements are due to the sensitive nature of working with children. If you do not have these, Little Ones may offer you guidance on how to obtain them.
The next step is to arrange an interview with one of our Au Pair consultants to discuss your CV and check your references, identity, police check and relevant qualifications for authenticity.
Once this is completed your Au Pair consultant will start the search your Au Pair host family, they will arrange interviews for you with the family and prepare you beforehand so that you are able to walk into the interview full of confidence.
A family that comes to Little Ones in search for their perfect Au Pair is looking for someone that is willing to commit for a minimum of one year. This will ensure that you will be able to get the most out of your UK experience and allows you to make bonds with the family that could last a lifetime.
An Au Pair is expected to follow the routines that are set out by the family that may include school runs, ensuring that the house remains tidy by picking up the children’s clothes and toys, keeping their own space tidy, light housekeeping such as washing dishes and vacuuming. Occasionally an Au Pair may need to pick up some groceries for the family and prepare light meals for the children.
An Au Pair that is hired through Little Ones is expected to always remain respectful of the family and the rules that they may set for the children and the house. Au Pairs need to understand that the child’s needs and safety are always the number one priority when they are with them.
Au Pairs are also expected to dress appropriately within the home and when they are with the children and respect any wishes that the family may have regarding this. You may be required to prepare healthy meals for the children which include meat, if this is an issue for you, you must make this known to the agency and family at the time of interview.
