We believe in the importance of training our child carers to the highest standard. We do this because we know that an experienced and knowledgeable carer is essential to creating a safe and fun environment for your children. At Little Ones, all our staff are trained in-house by qualified educators who know exactly what it takes to make sure your child’s needs are met (and exceeded). We’ve listed out some of our top tips below on how we train our child carers so you can be confident that they meet your children’s needs.
We don’t just hire anyone who can pass a background check and fill out an application; we turn to our extensive network of trusted providers who have been successfully caring for children for years. These are professionals who are passionate about their work and who are dedicated to making sure every child in their care feels loved and safe.
We start by reviewing the child carers’ resumes and references, then go through an assessment process that includes a series of interviews with you and your child carer.
Our nannies undergo regular screening before being allowed to work with children, which includes a thorough background check as well as a drug test. This ensures that you are hiring only highly qualified individuals who will take good care of your child.
We also require that all of our nannies have some experience working with children before they come on board with us. This means that even if you don’t have children when you start a family, we’ll already have someone ready for you!
First aid training for personal nannies is designed to give them the knowledge and skills they need to handle a medical emergency when it occurs. To be able to administer first aid, a person must understand what types of injuries and illnesses exist, be aware of how to treat them, and know how to keep themselves safe while doing so.
This training includes instruction on what types of medical emergencies are likely to occur during their duties and how child carers should respond if one occurs. This will ensure they’re equipped with the information you need to act quickly in an emergency, whether administering CPR or bandaging wounds.
We also require our nannies to attend additional first aid training sessions outside their initial training period to ensure that they’re up-to-date on any new developments within the industry (such as new medications or procedures).
Our child care nutrition training includes a thorough knowledge of the meal plan, including a review of the food items in the pantry, a list of the ingredients for each recipe and the steps required to prepare them, and an overview of how to make sure that your nanny is adequately equipped to feed the children. We also cover how to maintain a well-stocked kitchen, including having plenty of clean drinking water on hand at all times. We also teach our nannies how to identify when one of their charges is sick and ensure that they stay well while in your home.
We also teach our nannies about avoiding any allergies present in your family or among any children coming into your house with their parents (or without).
The child carer’s role is to provide quality care and education for your child. In addition, they are responsible for your child’s safety, well-being and learning, especially when you are away from home.
The child carer should be interested in spending time with children; they need to enjoy being around them and have patience when things don’t go according to plan.
They must be able to communicate effectively with parents or guardians so that any issues can be addressed promptly. The child carer also needs good interpersonal skills so that they can work well with other adults as well as children.
As a parent, you want to know what is happening with your child when they are being cared for. That’s why we trained our child carers to communicate daily with the parents about their children’s development and what they have been up to. This can be done through phone calls so that you always know that your child is in safe hands.
All our child carers are trained to the highest standard. They understand the individual needs of children and communicate these with their parents. They maintain a safe environment for them to play in, provide fun and learning opportunities and ensure they have an understanding of routine and structure. In addition, our child carers ensure that all their training is up-to-date, including updates on health and safety matters, as well as first aid training, which we make sure all our child carers have access to if they need it in an emergency situation.
