Deputy Managers are usually the first point of contact for a Nursery Manager for assistance and delegations, they need to ensure that a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care and development is taking place within the nursery. They also give additional support to staff and other personal within the Nursery. The Deputy Manager is also required to step in as Nursery Manager in their absence.
Experience required Nursery Deputy Manager jobs
3 years of postgraduate experience in a Daycare setting
Experience with children aged 0 - 5 years old
Ideally experience as a Supervisor or Manager
Salary Range: £20,500 - £23,500
Qualifications expected for Nursery Deputy Manager jobs
NVQ Level 3 or an equivalent qualification
BTEC or equivalent
EYFS Foundation Degree
HND Level 3 within an Early years related subject
A valid Paediatric First Aid qualification

Communication skills that translates to a wide range of people
Understand children’s needs and behaviour in order to effectively set limits for them
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide support to the Manager and other nursery staff
Promote the nursery in a professional and positive manner
Supervise the students and identify their learning requirements and alert staff of them
Assist with collection, accounting and banking of money and distribution of wages
Assist with setting and implementing policy objectives for the nursery within the framework of the management team
Identify the physical, emotional, intellectual and developmental needs of children with special needs and offer relevant development opportunities and support
Ensure that the philosophy and ethos of the nursery is being fulfilled by working with the manager and other nursery staff
Work alongside parents and carers of children with special needs to ensure full integration within the nursery
Evaluate, develop and operate they yearly programme of activities within the nursery and ensure that it follows the National Curriculum and is suitable for the age range of the children
Assisting to ensure that there is effective management within the nursery day to day
Domestic duties within the nursery such as preparing snacks and cleaning of equipment
The working hours of a Nursery Deputy Manager may vary depending on the Nursery but on average it is 40 hours per week.
