Nurseries are lead by a manager who ensure that the Nursery complies with the governments latest EYFS regulations as well as environmental, fire and health and safety regulations. Nursery Managers are to ensure that the highest standards of care and education are taking place within a safe and welcoming environment. It is the Managers duty to oversee the operation of the nursery and to be flexible with families and the community in order to ensure that the needs of all children are being met.
Experience required for Nursery Manager jobs
3 years professional experience with children
1-2 years of management experience (ideally in childcare)
Occasionally a Level 6 childcare qualification
Salary Rage Within the UK: £22,000 - £35,000
Average: £27,000

EYFS foundation degree
HND Level 3 within an Early years related subject
Level 5 childcare diploma
Early Year Management or leadership for the children and young people workforce
A valid First Aid qualification

Duties and responsibilities
Manage, support and develop the nursery team
Recruit and interview potential candidates
Build and maintain relationships with relevant agencies, schools and other childcare professionals
Effectively manage budgets and organise marketing materials and campaigns
Ensure the nursery meets Ofsted and Early Years Foundation Stage standards and work with the nursery owner on aspects that need development
Create and maintain management reports
Work with staff to ensure that children’s learning and developmental requirements are met
Working hours for a Nursery Manager may vary but are usually from 7am to 6pm, depending the the nursery you may have to work Saturdays as well as stay later in the evening for events such as parent meetings.
