Nursery Nurses care for children aged between 0 and seven years old. Nursery Nurses help children to develop and learn through emotional, social and educational development. They provide guidance and nurture to the children on a regular basis as well as asses their practical interactions. Nursery Nurses are not limited to being in nursery they can found in a variety of settings including preschools.
Experience required for Nursery Nurse jobs
Minimum of 1 year experience working in a Nursery or preschool
Level 2 or Level 3 childcare qualification
You could also start as a nursery assistant and then undertake a qualification.
Salary Range
£14,000 - £25,000
Qualifications required for Nursery Nurse jobs
Nursery Nurses will need to have a Paediatric First Aid qualification as well as one of the following
CACHE (Level 3 Diploma in Child Care and Education)
BTEC (National Diploma in Children’s Care, Learning and Development)
NVQ (Level 3 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development)
Employers may also ask for Nursery Nurses to have a food hygiene qualification

Duties and Responsibilities
Keep records of children’s development and inform the parents of their progress
Plan activities that encourage the children’s development especially in language and arithmetic
Ensure the children are safe at all times and report any concerns such as signs of abuse
Playing with the children as well as feeding and changing them
Nursery Nurses usually work from 8.30am to 6pm depending on the Nursery’s opening hours
