How do I pay a Back Up Nanny?
Little Ones offers our clients two different charge rate options when deciding to hire a Back Up Nanny. While every placement and family is unique, these options are the standard pay rates offered however depending on the specifications of the job, there may be variation in these rates. With Little Ones Back Up Nanny services, you do not need to worry about paying the Nanny’s Tax or National Insurance contributions like you would with a permanent Nanny. Either the Nanny is employed through Little Ones and we take care of their contributions or they are self employed and are responsible for declaring any contributions to HMRC themselves.
Depending on the job specification, below are the two options that Little Ones offers to our clients as payment methods:
1) £150.00 per 7-day agency fee plus VAT = £180.00 in total. Once payment is processed we then activate your search and start sending your profile of qualified candidates who are free for this position. It is then up to you to choose a profile and arrange a telephone interview as a quick introduction so you feel comfortable with the nanny who is going to work for you.
All of the Back Up Nannies that are eligible to work through this option are self-employed and therefore it is their responsibility to declare any taxes and contributions to HMRC.
The hourly pay rate for the nannies would be £15 per hour but this would increase to £16 per hour on weekends and double time on any UK bank holidays during the year.
2) £26.00 per hour and in this, the following is included; VAT, candidates wages, Holiday/pension contribution as per UK law and our agency margin. This option is suitable for 20 hours throughout the week period. A minimum of 5 x hours per day is our minimum booking policy.
Interviewing a Back Up nanny
When you require Back Up childcare, time is of the essence. This means that you do not have the luxury of time to interview extensively a range of candidates over a number of weeks to find the right fit for you. Your specialist consultant will provide you with a selection of profiles of Back Up Nannies that are available and meet your requirements. Once you have decided on a Back Up Nanny that you would like to interview, your consultant will arrange a phone interview between the two of you.
On this phone interview, you are able to discuss your requirements and any specifications you have in regards to the care you need in more detail, such as allergies your children might have or other special requirements that need to be noted.
